Counseling services at EAS are offered to the county employee, spouse, and dependents (under 26 years of age). Counseling services at EAS are short term, consisting of a total of 6 sessions. Short term counseling is a supportive service and is the starting point of addressing your current distress.
The focus is on the individual's immediate or near future concerns. It may encompass several areas in the individual’s life, for example: professional or personal distress. This is a one-on-one discussion between the counselor and the client, to assist the client in achieving their personal goals.
Attention is given to partners in a committed relationship to assist them in finding solutions to their relationship distress. Session focus is given to what the couple wants to address and can vary from communication difficulties to overall relationship satisfaction. Meeting with a counselor will help the couple by implementing new positive forms of interactions.
Emphasis is on the family dynamics, the counselor would assist the entire family in communication, problem solving, and provide parenting support. The goal is to resolve family conflict and increase family cohesion.
Services are available for minors who are experiencing difficulty at home, school, and in their community. EAS counselors also provide supportive services to assist the child/adolescent through their developmental transitions.
